Earwigs may look intimidating with their pincers, but the real trouble begins when they start invading your home in large numbers. These moisture-loving pests often show up in bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, and around exterior entry points, creating frustration for homeowners and sometimes damaging plants and stored items.
At Alamo Pest Control, we offer reliable, effective earwig control services to help eliminate these pests and stop them from getting inside. Whether you’re dealing with a minor issue or a recurring infestation, our team provides long-term solutions you can count on.
Earwigs are attracted to moisture, darkness, and shelter. In Texas, the warm climate and humid conditions in certain seasons make homes especially inviting. They typically enter houses while seeking water sources or when outside conditions become too hot or too dry.
Common reasons earwigs invade include:
While earwigs aren’t dangerous to humans, large populations can be unsettling and disruptive, making professional earwig pest control the best way to regain your peace of mind.

If you’re unsure whether you have an earwig problem, here are some clues to look for:
A few earwigs can quickly multiply into a larger issue, especially when moisture is present. That’s where professional earwig removal comes in.
When you call Alamo Pest Control, you’re getting more than a quick spray. You’re getting a thorough, strategic approach to lasting earwig treatment. Here’s how our process works:
We start by identifying where earwigs are hiding, what is attracting them, and how they’re getting inside. This includes checking moisture-prone areas, landscaping, and structural gaps.
Our treatments are designed to eliminate earwigs at the source, using effective products around foundations, baseboards, entry points, and outdoor areas where earwigs thrive.
Because earwigs rely heavily on moisture, we offer recommendations to help reduce humidity and remove conditions that encourage earwig activity.
We point out the cracks, gaps, and openings around the home that earwigs use to get in. Closing off the gaps and openings earwigs use is key to long-term earwig control.
For properties with persistent issues, we provide recurring earwig pest control services to ensure year-round protection.

No — this is a longstanding myth with no basis in fact. University extension entomologists (Iowa State, Ohio State, Penn State, and others) have repeatedly confirmed earwigs don’t seek out ears or burrow into people; on rare occasions any small insect might wander into an ear canal by accident, but earwigs have no particular attraction to doing so.
Not really. Earwigs may pinch if you pick one up or trap it, but their pincers are unlikely to break skin and don’t cause lasting injury. The reaction is more startling than harmful for most people.
Even though they’re not a health threat, large numbers indoors are a real nuisance — they can give off an unpleasant odor when crushed, damage seedlings and soft plant growth in gardens, and a heavy indoor population is usually a sign of an underlying moisture problem near the home’s foundation that’s worth addressing anyway.
Earwigs are drawn to moisture — damp mulch, leaf litter, dense ground cover, and humid crawl spaces are typical habitats. When conditions outside get too dry or too wet, they move toward buildings looking for a more stable, humid environment, which is often how they end up indoors near foundations and baseboards.
Our process starts with an inspection to find where earwigs are hiding and how they’re entering, followed by targeted treatment with products applied around foundations, baseboards, and entry points. They also provide recommendations for reducing humidity and the conditions that attract earwigs, and offer recurring service for ongoing protection.
Earwigs fall under our general pest coverage, which is included in the base Defender Plan ($52/month plus $179 initial fee) covering interior and seasonal exterior treatment. The Defender Plus Plan ($82/month plus $349 initial fee) layers on termite coverage and broader pest protection but isn’t required just for earwigs specifically.
